Where did the website name come from?
During a family vacation to New Zealand, we stopped in Wellington for a few days to have a look around town. One of the attractions we visited was the Carter Observatory. A few weeks earlier, the observatory had a drawing contest for local kids and the results were hung in the lobby of the building. The theme of the contest was for kids to draw their idea of a contraption to protect the Earth from an meteor. Most of the ideas were “normal”, the kids offered up elaborate ideas; catching the astroid with a net or perhaps shooting it down with a missile. However, one little kid drew a simple picture of a pig with wings and scribbled in crayon under it “the pig will fly” but offered no indication as to how that was going to stop the meteor. My wife, daughter and I thought it was such a great idea, we adopted the catch phrase…THE PIG WILL FLY!

Are we the right people to offer you advice on travel, sightseeing and local cuisine?
Originally from the United States, we have lived and travelled overseas since 2009. First, we called Singapore home for six years before moving to Moscow, Russia in 2015. During our time abroad, we have traveled extensively throughout Asia-Pacific and Europe.
At last count, we have visited over 40 countries on 4 continents. Our preference is to travel at a more leisurely pace without the hassles associated with organized tour groups. While we visit some “must see” attractions (can you really go to Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower??), we often try to seek out the less visited sites as well. Additionally, we spend a significant amount of time, money and effort trying to find interesting and tasty local foods and coffees. Please feel free to read the posts, download our itineraries and ask any questions.
